Energy Focus Gets $12.3 in Lighting Retrofit Contracts through Stones River Contracting Subsidiary
Energy Focus Inc., Solon, Ohio, announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Stones River Companies, LLC was recently awarded seven lighting energy services contracts totaling $12.3 million. Rob Wilson, VP of Stones River, said two of the seven projects are multi-million dollar contracts through an energy services company (ESCO) for projects at a public school district and a public university. Both projects are already underway Five other projects totaling $5.9 million are through Woodstone Energy Services, LLC, SRC’s recently announced commercial ESCO alliance partner. Details
EMCOR’s Dynalectric Wins Electrical Bids at Oregon Psychiatric Hospital
EMCOR Group Inc., Norwalk, Conn., announced that its Dynalectric Oregon subsidiary has been awarded several contracts for the installation of various electrical systems at a state-run psychiatric hospital facility in Salem, Oregon. Dynalectric will be responsible for performing much of the site underground infrastructure ductwork (medium voltage/data/security/site lighting) and under slab work on all hospital buildings at the site.
In addition to installing the entire voice/data systems for the renovation, as part of the project Dynalectric Oregon will perform the electrical work on the Kirkbride building remodel which, when complete, will serve as the new administration building and a museum. The renovation project will involve several buildings and facilities: Kirkbride Building, a new central kitchen, a renovated historical building, new wings to house and manage the growing patient population, and a new central utility plant. Dynalectric will also install the tele-data systems, including air-blown fiber optics, in all administration and patient areas. Details
Siemens CFO Sees Improving Market in 2010

Emerson Network Power Combines Aperture & Avocent Business into New Division for Data Center Infrastructure Management
Emerson Network Power, St. Louis, is combining its Aperture and new Avocent businesses as a new division focused on helping data center customers better manage their infrastructure. This announcement follows the December news that Emerson’s completed its Avocent acquisition.
The new division is part of Emerson Network Power and is headquartered in Huntsville, Ala. The unit combines Avocent’s management systems division, which offers access and control of the physical aspects of network devices and servers, with Aperture’s powerful infrastructure software for a robust portfolio of data center infrastructure management solutions. Emerson acquired Aperture in February 2008.
The new division will be led by President Stephen C. Hassell, who previously served as Emerson Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) since 2004. The division will report into Emerson Group Vice President Bob Bauer. As CIO, Hassell, was responsible for Emerson’s information technology strategy, including hardware, software, and services, as well as its telecommunications infrastructure. He came to Emerson from Invensys, where he served as CIO. Prior to Invensys, Hassell worked in Northrop Grumman’s Newport News division. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the United States Naval Academy and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He also holds a master’s in management from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University.
Tom Waun, president of Aperture, will take on additional responsibility as president of global sales and marketing for the new division, and will join Avocent management team members who will retain their existing roles.

Bridgeport Fittings Names Erik Senseney Technical Sales Manager
Bridgeport Fittings (Stratford, Conn.): In his new position as technical sales manager, Erik Senseney will train Bridgeport’s representatives and distributors and provide technical support to Bridgeport’s customers. He will report to David Turk, V.P. of sales and marketing. Senseney comes to Bridgeport Fittings with an extensive electrical contracting background, including project superintendent at Interstate Electrical Contractors in Wheatridge, Colo., where he supervised high-profile construction projects at the U.S. Mint, Colorado Convention Center and the U.S. Air Force Academy. He also has been certified and licensed as a master electrician, journeyman electrician and electrical lineman. A graduate of the University of Colorado and currently a resident of Fairfield, Conn., Senseney is also a decorated U.S. Air Force serviceman.
Intermatic announces executive promotions
Intermatic Inc. (Spring Grove, Ill.): Rick Boutilier is now president and CEO. He started at Intermatic as CFO in 2004 and was promoted to COO in 2008. Gary Koetters was promoted V.P. of sales from director of industrial and retail sales. He has more than 20 years experience in the retail sector and was key in executing Intermatic’s retail product exit strategy. Deb Peterson was promoted to V.P. of marketing and product development. She joined Intermatic in 2006 and was formerly Senior V.P. of Motient. Peterson has an extensive background in MIS, marketing and business development.

Energy Focus Forms Alliance with ESCO
Energy Focus Inc., a Cleveland-based lighting manufacturer, has formed a strategic alliance with Woodstone Energy, LLC a commercial and industrial energy services company (ESCO) that designs and implements turnkey, energy-saving solutions for Fortune 50-ranked manufacturers around the globe. Woodstone will utilize Stones River Companies, which Energy Focus recently acquired, as the turnkey lighting energy services provider for its energy services projects. Details
JP Morgan Analyst Likes GE, WESCO and Rockwell
A Barron’s report says JP Analyst Stephen Tusa raised his appraisal of GE, WESCO And Rockwell Automation to “overweight.” Tusa was the investment analyst who said last month in a Reuters report that Rockwell would be a good acquisition for GE. Since that report was published, Rockwell execs have repeatedly emphasized their desire to remain independent.
