3M to Work with NREL on Solar Research

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) announced a series of Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs) with 3M. The agreements establish joint investigations in three key areas of innovation: thin-film photovoltaics, concentrating solar power and biofuels. NEMA News

Aggarwal to lead pre-construction sales at Cupertino Electric

Electrical contractor Cupertino Electric, San Jose, Calif., has promoted Paul Aggarwal to the new position of vice president of pre-construction services. Aggarwal, who was V.P. of estimating, will have an expanded role setting the strategic direction for the company’s pursuit of new projects and will oversee all pre-construction activities. Aggarwal joined Cupertino Electric more than 20 years ago as an estimator. He has a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology from San Jose University and a master’s degree in business administration from Santa Clara University. Details.

Gordon Pevzner Joings LSI as Eastern Regional Sales Manager

Lighting Services Inc. (LSI) (Stony Point, N.Y.): Gordon Pevzner has joined the company as regional sales manager for the eastern U. S. A graduate of Ohio State University, he brings more than 30 years of lighting and sales experience to LSI, including work in theatrical lighting design, dimming and controls, lighting specification and calculation services. Gordon has been a member of the Illuminating Engineers Society of North America since 1988, serving as president, V.P. and secretary for the Philadelphia IES section. He has also served for two years as the committee chair of Philadelphia Lights regional trade show and for 10 years on the sectional International Interior Design Association (IIDA) awards committee.

Halco Hires Weaver as New Western Region Sales Manager

Halco Lighting Technologies (Norcross, Ga.): Stephanie Weaver is the company’s new Western region sales manager and Grayson Planck has moved to the company’s newly created South Central region. Weaver will be report to Jim Coleman, V.P. of sales. She has more than 12 years of experience in the lighting industry, most recently serving as Eiko’s Western regional sales manager. Weaver will be responsible for overseeing the sales, training and traveling with independent agencies servicing electrical distributors.
Weaver is a member of Women in Industry, the Electric League of Kansas City and was nominated in 2009 for Biltmore’s Who’s Who in the industry.
