Halco promotes Lisa Johnson to operations manager

Halco Lighting Technologies (Norcross, Ga.): Lisa Johnson was promoted to operations manager. Since 2007, she served as Halco’s IT manager. Johnson joined Halco in 1998 as an administrative assistant, becoming involved with all areas of the company with a focus in purchasing. In 2002, she was promoted to manager, purchasing/inventory control where she was responsible for purchasing, inventory control as well as warehouse operations. She then joined the operations team as IT manager. In her new position, Johnson’s responsibilities will include overseeing IT, Purchasing and Facilities, as well as implementation of company policies.

Forest Electric makes appointments in Big Apple metro area

Forest Electric Corp./EMCOR (Edison, N.J.): The company named Robert Richardson, senior executive V.P., executive in charge of its New York operations and announced the appointment of Rich Lomler as executive V.P. and the executive in charge of the company’s project execution and operations for the New York metropolitan area, reporting directly to Richardson. Lomler has more than 20 years of construction experience in the New York construction market, including seventeen years with Forest Electric. Richardson is a 34-year veteran of Forest Electric, one of the largest electrical contracting firms serving the New York City metropolitan area and the New York City construction market. In his new position, Richardson will have responsibility for all estimating, business development, and project execution for Forest Electric’s operations in the New York area.
A subsidiary of EMCOR, Norwalk, Conn., Forest Electric has been serving the electric contracting service requirements of clients in the New York metropolitan area for more than 60 years.

Rexel makes Fortune magazine’s listing of World’s Most Admired Companies

Rexel got some good news recently when Fortune magazine named it one of the “World’s Most Admired Companies” in a recent survey. The Paris-based company ranked fourth in the “Wholesalers: Diversified” category, up from tenth in 2011, and also led its industry in the ranking for global competitiveness. Rexel ranked seventh among the 28 French companies selected to the list. The results from Fortune’s “World’s Most Admired Companies” survey were published in the March issue.

According to a press release announcing the honor Rudy Provoost, chairman of the management board and CEO, said, “We are delighted and honored by this recognition and it is a tribute to the dedication and quality work of our teams worldwide.” Chris Hartmann, executive V.P. and CEO of Rexel Holdings USA, said in the release, “This acknowledgement from Fortune, one of the most respected business media outlets in the country, confirms that Rexel’s unwavering commitment to our customers and our employees is making a difference.”

Rexel Holdings USA has annual sales of more than $3.5 billion, 5,000 employees and 300 branches throughout the U.S. Its corporate parent had 2011 sales of €12.7 billion (approximately US$16.6 billion) through its operations in 37 countries, which include 2,100 branches, and 28,000 employees.

Rexel acquires two distributors with locations in Belgium, England and Wales

Bolstering its coverage in several of its established markets, Rexel, Paris, announced acquisitions in Belgium, England and Wales to increase its market coverage in those countries. La Grange is a full-line electrical supply house and lighting specialist in Belgium, while Wilts Wholesale Electrical is reportedly one of the largest independent distributors of electrical supplies operating in England and Wales.

A Rexel press release announcing the La Grange acquisition said the 126-employee, five-branch company based in Gent, Belgium, was founded in 1941 and has an established reputation in the industrial market. The acquisition should generate additional sales of close to €50 million (approximately US$66 million) on an annualized basis. Rexel has 29 branches located across Belgium that in 2011 contributed over €305 million (approximately US $402.7 million) to the Group’s consolidated revenues.

Its acquisition of Wilts Wholesale Electrical add 59 branches to its distribution networks in those countries. A press release announcing the acquisition said the deal should generate sales of close to €60 million (approximately US$79.2 million) on an annualized basis. Founded in 1925 and based in Trowbridge (Witshire), Wilts Wholesale Electrical operates through 59 branches located in England and three located in Wales. The family-owned company is one of the largest independent distributors of electrical supplies in the United Kingdom. The press release said Rexel is the largest electrical distributor in the United Kingdom. Operating from over 380 branches located across England, Wales and Scotland, Rexel’s activity in the United Kingdom in 2011 contributed over €950 million (approximately US$1.3 billion) to the Group’s consolidated revenues and posted 8.1% organic growth.

Rexel operates in 37 countries with a network of 2,100 branches and more than 28,000 people. Its 2011 sales were €12.7 billion (approximately US$16.8 billion). The company’s majority shareholders are an investor group led by Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, Eurazeo and BAML Capital Partners.

EMCOR wins Rose Bowl renovation contract

EMCOR Group Inc., Norwalk, Conn., said its subsidiary, Dynalectric Los Angeles, has been awarded a contract for installation of electrical systems as part of the renovation of the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, Calif.
Dynalectric Los Angeles install new electrical systems for the Rose Bowl’s press box and new luxury suites. The work will include installation of the electrical distribution, video surveillance, audio and communication systems, as well as the Satellite Master Antenna TeleVision (SMATV), broadcast cabling and digital addressable fire alarm systems.

Eaton Corp. (Cleveland): Revathi Advaithi has been promoted to president – Electrical Sector, Americas Region. Effective April 1, Advaithi will be responsible for the company’s electrical business in North, South and Central America. She will oversee manufacturing operations, sales, marketing, technology and product development for 12 divisions and $4.2 billion in revenues.

Advaithi joined Eaton in 1995 in the company’s Global Leadership Development program as a manufacturing supervisor at the hydraulics facility in Shawnee, Okla., and has held several senior management posts for the company since then, including V.P. and general manager for the Electrical Components Division, and president, Asia Pacific, Electrical Sector, based in Shanghai. She was also a senior executive with Honeywell for several years. Advaithi has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in Pilani, India, and a master of business administration in international business from Thunderbird – Garvin School of International Business in Glendale, Arizona.

Halco (Norcross, Ga.): Kim Cook will assume the position as president of Halco Lighting Technologies. She will also retain her current title as COO, which she has held since 2005. Since joining Halco in 1992, Cook has held positions as account representative, regional sales manager, national sales manager and V.P. of sales and marketing before becoming the company’s COO.

Graybar signs on with Epicor’s Vista Information Services

Graybar Electric Co., St. Louis, has joined more than 100 other electrical distributors in feeding out-the-door sales information to the industry-sanctioned Vista data warehouse. Established through a marketing partnership between Epicor and the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED), the Vista solution produces category sales reports.
“Graybar is committed to the security of our business information. At the same time, we recognize the value of collaborating with our peers to strengthen our entire industry,” said Robert A. Reynolds, chairman, president and CEO of Graybar. “Working with Epicor, we can protect the confidentiality of our data while leveraging the collective intelligence that can improve our industry as a whole.”
In addition to the electrical supply industry, Epicor Vista Information Services provides accurate, sales tracking, brand and category share, and other information to businesses in the independent hardware, lumber, home center, mass merchandiser, automotive aftermarket, and specialty retail industries. “By relying on Vista market intelligence, distributors and other businesses are eliminating the guesswork that often results in excess stock sitting on the shelf or in sales lost due to a lack of inventory,” said Rick Stanits, national sales manager, Vista Information Services for Epicor. “This is, above all, a business growth tool for the entire electrical distribution industry.”

His professional experience includes serving as Southern Central sales rep for Progress Lighting (most recently), as well as the district sales rep (to Home Depot) for Hunter Ceiling Fan Co.
