Springfield Electric hires Harrod to head up Energy Management Solutions team

don-harrodLRSpringfield Electric Supply Co. (Springfield, Ill.): Don Harrod has been appointed to the newly created position of Energy Management Solutions – Team Leader. He has 25 years experience in the electrical industry in both distribution and manufacturing, with the last seven years as territory sales manager for GE’s Lighting Division. His primary function will be to develop a sales and marketing strategy focused on providing energy management solutions to end users.

Hawkins appointed V.P. of business development at GE Energy

Ronnie Hawkins has been named V.P. of Business Development for GE Energy, where he will be responsible for identifying inorganic growth opportunities for the $38 billion Energy business and leading a global group of 50 professionals focused on all aspects of business development from deal origination to transaction execution.
Under his leadership, the Energy business development team has delivered over $11 billion in pending or closed acquisitions since October, which are expected to add over $6 billion of revenues to GE Energy. Hawkins joined GE in 2009 as general manager – business development for the Energy Business.
Prior to GE, Hawkins was an investment banker covering the broad energy sector. He was a managing director at Citigroup Global Markets, responsible for covering global integrated and exploration and production oil companies. Hawkins earned a dual B.A. degree in economics and Latin American studies from UCLA.

Houston Wire & Cable appoints Pokluda as president

Houston Wire & Cable Co. (Houston): Charles Sorrentino, president and CEO, will step down as the company’s president effective immediately and as CEO at the end of 2011. The company’s board of directors has elected James Pokluda, HWC’s long-time V.P. of sales and marketing, as president. Pokluda will assume the duties of president effective immediately, and will assume the additional responsibility of CEO at the end of the year. In addition, HWC’s board of directors has promoted Christopher McLeod, to senior V.P. of operations.

Border States Names Penas Northwest Region Industrial Sales Manager

Border States Electric (BSE) (Fargo, N.D.): Bruce Penas has been named Northwest Region industrial sales manager. Penas joined BSE in 2008 as the Northwest business development manager. Before joining BSE, he was the senior account manager for Rockwell Automation in Fargo. He has also worked for WESCO and Westinghouse Electric Corp.

Cape Electrical Supply appoints Horgan CFO

Cape Electrical Supply (Cape Girardeau, Mo.): John Horgan is the company’s new CFO. He joined the company on Oct. 1 after completing seven years at Amdocs Inc. Prior to that he was employed at Olin Metals, Trendmasters and Pretium Packaging in a variety of senior financial and operational roles. He began his career with Ernst & Young in St. Louis and spent over twelve years in public accounting. Horgan holds a BSBA from St. Louis University where he is presently completing his MBA.

Activant’s Getty promoted to V.P. of product development

davegettyLRActivant Solutions Inc. (Yardley, Pa.): David Getty has been named V.P. of product development for the Wholesale Distribution Division. Since 2007, Getty has been Activant’s senior director of product engineering and development. He joined Activant in 1992 following graduation from college, and was an original member of the development team for Activant’s Prophet 21 ERP platform. Getty received his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Penn State University.

Graybar announces five appointments to management team

Graybar Electric Co. (St. Louis, Mo.): John Mansfield, a 30-year company veteran, has been appointed to the position of V.P., business development. Most recently he was V.P., corporate accounts. Another 30-year company veteran, Garry Acker, was appointed to the position of V.P., corporate accounts. He had been director, strategic accounts. Tony Frantal has been appointed national market manager, commercial. Tony has been with the company for more than 20 years, previously serving as branch manager, comm/data in Green Bay, Wis. Also, Brett Felton has been appointed as industrial market manager after serving the company for more than 15 years as a project engineer, operations manager and international sales manager, and Karen Gough was appointed to the newly created position of director, business development-energy management. She has 12 years of lighting and energy experience.

Palladium Energy appoints Salyer as CEO and president

Palladium Energy (Naperville, Ill.): This manufacturer of custom lithium–based battery packs has appointed Arthur Salyer as CEO and president. He started working with Palladium as a consultant in 2009 after the company’s divestiture from Tyco was complete and during that time was instrumental in developing operations and sales strategies to reposition the firm. He officially joined the company in December 2009 as V.P. of global operations and was promoted to COO in early 2010 and then to president in July 2010. He has more than 30 years of direct operations and management expertise and has worked for Avery Dennison, Carttronics LLC, Frito Lay, Technicolor and Trojan Battery Co.
Salyer received his B.S. in engineering from California State University Long Beach and his MBA from Pepperdine University.

Connexion adds four employees and announces new facilities

Connexion (Buffalo Grove, Ill): The company has added four new employees to its team: Gino Frigo, construction business leader, Eric Almeroth, Inside sales, Bill Halloran, construction and energy outside sales, and Kendra Frigo, information technology and administration support. In other news, Connexion is opening a sales office in Lockport, Ill., and will relocate its headquarters to a larger facility in Buffalo Grove later in Q2, 2011.

Knipex promotes Schumate to North America sales manager

Knipex-Tools (Arlington Heights, Ill.): Todd Shumate has been promoted to North America sales manager and will have responsibility for all of Canada as well as management of the wholesale-distribution channel throughout North America. Prior to joining Knipex in December 2008, Shumate was regional sales manager at Minerallac/Cully, where he managed independent representative agencies and developed territory sales goals and objectives to maximize market penetration. He also held regional sales manager roles at Progress Lighting/Hubbell Lighting and Klein Tools, Inc., as well as managerial positions at Dalloz Safety and Chase Ergonomics Inc.
